The Power Paddle to Puyallup has already begun, as more than 100 canoe families from far and wide have taken to the water for the journey to the final celebration. Bill Sterud, Chairman of the Puyallup Tribal Council, said the “Canoe Journey Restores Connections and Celebrates Life-Giving Force of Water”, and invited everyone to come and celebrate. This year’s landing day will be Saturday, July 28th, 2018. All the canoes that have traveled and registered will land in Puyallup and ask to come ashore. Dinner will be served that night. Protocol will go on for the next 7 days, nonstop from about 9 am to midnight. The canoe families will share their songs and dances.
